"V Squad" was born Vernon Hudson July 12, raised in the Acres Homes Community on the North side of Houston, Texas. Vernon demonstrated an appreciation for quality music at an early age by listening to vinyl recordings of legendary artists and groups such as Prince, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Isley Brothers, Anita Baker, War etc. As the hip hop revolution began to rise to prominence in the late 80s and early to mid-90s, V Squad would often rush to the nearest music store to pick up the latest offerings from Jay-Z, Nas, AZ, The Roots, Outkast, Pac, Biggie, Common and H-Town legend Scarface.
Inspired by what he describes as an intense love and passion for music, V Squad began to develop and hone his emcee skills by writing lyrics to instrumentals produced by the likes of heavyweight producers The Neptunes, Dr. Dre, and Premo (Dj Premier), and Dilla to name a few. While perfecting his craft, V Squad has been fortunate to collaborate with a number of artists and producers, including Houston legend NuWine (aka Wine-O), and Jay Z’s RocNation producer Lab Ox. As a testament to his clever lyrical skills, fluid delivery, and commanding stage presence, he has been afforded opportunities to open up for rap stars 5’9 Royce Da Bun B, Redman, Common, and J Cole just to name a few. His performance list includes BET's 106 & Park Freestyle Friday, Hotzone Media Concert Series, Hush Nightclub, Warehouse Music Live and several venues in Texas. V Squad is on a continuous process to develop a catalog of music that displays the heart, creativity, and conviction.
